In the past years promoting the use of original software, we have learnt that the respect for intellectual property should be inculcated from as young an age as possible. This is more so when the government is grooming our economy to be a knowledge one, right now. Further, respect begets respect, and this goes a long way in the molding of a child's character.

Therefore, we take great pleasure to announce the inauguration of the Software Exchange Software Giveaway Programme (SGP). It will be an annual programme conducted in July, with the objective to provide students, especially the needy ones, software they might require during the course of their studies, at absolutely no cost.

Each year, we will send the institutions selected a list of the software products we have set aside for the programme, together with the application form. A sample copy of this year's application form can be found here.

Interested students need only fill up the form, select the item(s) of their choice, explain why they require the software, and mail it back to us. We will examine these requests and provide the right students with the software they need, in the same month.
